As a result of ongoing innovation, reprocessing techniques have through the years become increasingly sophisticated. As a matter of course we remove all ferrous and the more course non-ferrous materials (2-50 mm.) from the chain.

At the same time, we are able to recover non-ferrous materials from very extremely fine fractions  of bottom ash (0-2 mm). These may, for example, include precious metals such as gold, silver and copper, as well as aluminium, chrome, nickel, zinc, and brass. Recovery of raw materials from waste is also called ‘urban mining’.

Reprocessing

We reprocess Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) using mobile installation placed at strategic locations. We thus avoid unnecessary transport movement and large investments in private installations. In addition, mobile reprocessing offers great flexibility as well as the possibility to adjust reprocessing to the specific bottom ash that is being reprocessed. IBA can be reprocessed immediately following the installation of the mobile installation.

Quality control

The process is continuously monitored in our mobile laboratory. Moreover, samples are taken for environmental and civil engineering monitoring that is executed by independent, external laboratories.

The samples that our laboratory technician are also used to properly configure the installation. This is important in order to optimally recover ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Besides this, it is important that the different WTEP granulate fractions are produced according to the correct grading curve, amongst other things for the use in concrete and solid foundations.

Final result

Rock Solid ensures that the produced WTEB granulates are used usefully at all times in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. By doing this, the waste cycle is fully closed. ‘From waste > to value’.

Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA)

The use of Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) fits nicely in a circular economy. In The Netherlands, there is an annual need for 120 to 140 million tons of building materials, which are for the main part imported from abroad. By using IBA, a saving is achieved on the use of primary raw materials, which prevents our living environment from being further negatively affected.
